My daughter wants a cookie cake for her bday on Sat. I didn't want to buy an undecorated one at GACC in the mall and was thinking that I could make one out of store bought dough. Anyone know how to do this and how long to bake it so that it isn't hard as a rock??
actually you could make your own chocolate chip cookie dough bake it in a sheet cake pan for about 15 minutes and test every so often. then just decorate. it will taste tons better than the store bought cookie dough. and they will love it. i did it for my daughter when she was in preschool.
I buy 2 rolls of Nestle Tollhouse cookie dough depending on how big you are making the cake. I press it down in the pan leaving about a 1/4 inch from the edge of the pan. Depending on your oven, check after 15 minutes to see if it's ready to come out of the oven. I prefer not cooking too long because you already know how they will harden.
I don't buy the cakes anymore from the cookie factory since we can make and decorate our own. In fact, I feel like our cookie cakes are just as good if not better than theirs because we can use any flavor extract for the homemade buttercream icing and ours are made with love.
Hi, just wanted to pass on that I tried a recipe from CC member - ckkerber,, I don't have it right now,, but you could pm her , i'm sure she would share. It was a big cookie recipe made using a box cake mix,, it was super simple, and oh so good, I followed the exact directions she gave and it turned out great,, everyone at work loved it.
