Looking for a Dreamsicle or Creamsicle recipe...I have one in the CMD called Orange Creamsicle Cake. Has anyone tried this one??? (is sayes for a bundt pan can it be made in a regular pan?) And what kind of filling & frosting would you all use. It is an anniversary cake & they had a creamsicle cake for there wedding...He hasn't commited to ordering the cake so I am just trying to get a handle on this as I will be away all weekend.
TIA
I've tried it and wasn't too impressed w/it. I love the CMD book, but that isn't one of my favs.
But this weekend I tried the Duncan Hines Orane Dream cake and then added the cake mix extender and used the orange yogurt in place of the sour cream and orange extract and it was pretty good. I also used a 'twinkie like filling' for the filling. I liked that better than the CMD recipe.
What about the cake where you just add orange pop to the cake mix. That's the only ingredient? I don't know if it would work for a anniversary cake or not. I've only made it in a 9x13 glass pan. The suggested topping is cool whip mixed with sugar free orange jello. Then it calls for mandarin oranges on top. It's so yum. Anyway, I'm sure you probably wouldn't want that for an anniversary cake, but maybe the actuall cake part would work.
I will have to look for the DH orange dream cake...not sure I am in Canada.
Going to the parents this weekend so will have to try a new recipe on them & show of my cake skillz!!!
Thanks

but I know locally I can't buy the DH orange cake mix but I am going to a bigger city this weekend so I will have to check out some stores while I am there.
Ohhhh and I have been thru the OOOOOO's
hehehe
I made one that got rave reviews. I used DH white cake mix, orange juice, orange zest, vanilla pudding, orange oil (LorAnn), 4 eggs and 1/4 cup oil. It was really good. I frosted it with a cream cheese/buttercream type frosting that was whipped really fluffy. I used the orange oil in it as well.
