ok... so i have a request for a "mini" tiered wedding cake for this weekend. Carrot cake w/ cream cheese frosting (of course!). I have not done a tiered carrot cake before so when pricing, what do y'all suggest?
Look at your wedding cake prices and go from there. Some people make their carrot cake as a specialty cake and therefore more expensive that say white cake. I know my carrot cake seems like a fortune to make!
I'm going to break the bank this weekend. Ihave an order from my sil for a carrot cake for her office and we are staying at the in-laws and that's fil's fav soI have to make him one too! He's only getting a 6in though!
My carrot cake is only slightly more expensive than the other flavors and SO easy to make that I wish everyone would order it! I salad-shooter-shred the carrots right in a big bowl and mix by hand.
I think most people think this is a more 'gourmet' item so I would charge a bit more... and the cream cheese in the frosting ain't cheap either! I have had a dreadful time doing the cream cheese frosting in this heat, however.... melted all over the place
I charge more for carrot simply because it does cost more to make. I make a cream cheese BC that crusts nicely and does all decorations, and still has that cream cheese taste. I don't worry about heat factors like straight cream cheese. I put this cake under premium pricing along with Italian Creme, and Black Forrest etc.
