I'm a beginner, I'm just starting out. I would like to enter cake contests, beginner if they have them, to gain experience. I been looking for contests but haven't really had any luck. If you can help me find contests in Northern California near San Fransico, Napa, or Sacramento, that would be great.

-Thank you so much!!!

Almost all of the county fairs have a cake decorating category. You just missed the Marin, Alameda and Contra Costa County fairs. There is a Gingerbread house competition in Half Moon Bay and Napa in December. The San Disgo Cake show is in March and there is a cake competition in Salem, Oregon in August. You might want to contact the local cake clubs. They can usually tell you what's coming up. In Contra Costa County the cake club is called theContra Costa Cake& Sugar Society. (They too just had a cake show). Good luck.

You should definitly check into the county fairs like "fairytale" mentioned. I live in So Cal and they LA county fair has a whole baked goods section, with contests in wedding cakes, cakes, cookies, and much more. Try googling cake decorating contests, that is how I have found out about a couple.

The closest cake club to you is probably the Contra Costa Cake and Sugar Art Society (CCCSAS). Their web address is: www.contracostacakeclub.org

Unfortunately there are none in your immediate area. The only ones in Northern CA. are the Fremont Frosters and CCCSAS.

I used the Links tab at the top, and went to cake clubs to find one near me in San Antonio.

PS: Moved here 2 years ago from Tracy, just south of Stockton. Good Luck!

Steve
