I have my first paid wedding cake order and am beginning to get more orders for wedding cakes. icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif My question is, if the parents of the bride are paying, do the parents sign the contract or do I still have the bride sign the contract? TIA

The person who is paying signs. I just learned this the hard way.

I thought I had done so good drawing up a really professional contract for my first wedding cake. Except the bride signed and the mother - who was paying - had no idea what the contract said.

I require 1/2 the money upfront and the rest 2 weeks before the date. She refused to send me the final amount of the money and I ended up bouncing a whole mess of checks trying to pay for the ingredients for the actual cake.

So - the person who pays is the person legally responsible for the contract.

Either one or both. I have added a line for the 'bride's representative' to sign. often, it is clear the parents are the financially responsible persons.

As long as everyone is in agreement at the meeting, it doesn't matter.

Thank you for the information. I think I will add a line to my contract for the brides representative. That way I can have both signatures.
