A friend and I made a frog cake this weekend for a baby shower. I made fondant frog, duck, baby, lilly pads, flowers and dragon flies. I did buttercream icing with blue colored piping gel for water. everything that I put in the water melted. So the day before the shower I stayed up util 2 am to bake another cake and finished decorating it the next moring. I had to make all new fondant pieces that took the longest. It al worked out but I was dead tired.

I'm sorry to hear that happened to you! I made a cake this weekend with piping gel for water as well, and I noticed that my fondant pieces got a little soft. They didn't melt or anything, but they were softer to the touch than they had been before placing them in the "water". How long before you put your fondant pieces in the piping gel did you make them? I'm thinking maybe they hadn't dried enough, and that's why they melted. I had made my fondant pieces several days before, but noticed the softness when I had to readjust pieces after transport. Just a thought.

Of course, I'm not a professional by ANY stretch! LOL

Your cakes are adorable BTW! I have a friend that loves frogs....I might have to steal your idea, if you don't mind. icon_lol.gif
