Does anyone have the instructions or know where to find Earlene Moore's "puffy base" instructions? I thought they were on her website, but can't find them. I'm needing a decorative and inexpensive cake plateau for a cake display, and thought this would be pretty... ?!

She sells the instructions for those. I've made them several times and they are very easy to do if you know how to sew.

It is basically a ring of fabric with elastic on the top and bottom. The styrofoam is carved so the sides are slated.

How thick is the styrofoam?

My WMI made one at home. She told me how and all, but my memory is horrible.

I used 3" high styrofoam on mine.

Do you just crave the styrofoam with a knife to make the edge round, I guess. Cake for thought.

Thank you Miriel

I carve using a heated tool: http://www.thecraftplace.com/store/moreinfo.cfm?Product_ID=327

It makes clean cuts and I don't get messy styrofoam bits when I do it this way.

I cut the sides straight diagonally down, leaving about 1/2" on the bottom with straight sides. This is to make the bottom edge sturdier and not as fragile.
