I have come to a conclusion that fathers day cakes are hard to think of. I have searched the internet and here for ideas for a Fathers day cake idea, and I cant think of one, or see one. now given I am only working on our laptop so all of my favorites that I had saved on our main computer are gone, but I am so perturbed... icon_lol.gif and packing up my wilton books was a bad idea.... I should have kept them here..... so I am once again reaching out to you all for internet sites that have pictures of cakes, and perhaps fathers day ones at that.... so help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am up against a wall..I have no printer, no scanner, no books, and no ideas........

Here's an Idea I had for a fathers day cake,If you were to make a round
cake.Ice your cake, then put blue piping gel around the sides{this would be alot of gel so you could use blue icing instead, the gel would just look better}.Leave the top white, then take fishing lures{brand new} and put them on the side of the cake.Add shells on the top and bottom and write Happy Fathers Day on top. birthday.gif
You could add Swedish fish to the cake to give it a little more. Not to mention the lures could be a gift once taken off the cake. icon_razz.gif

Hope this helps in some way.And if I have any more ideas or find some sites I'll be sure to tell you. icon_smile.gif

I really like the idea with the fishing lures. It sounds really cute. Another idea that I thought was cute was to make a sheet cake and kind of have it resemble a shirt and then make a neck tie in the middle. I saw a picture...but I can't remember where. Anyway I think they used fondant to make the tie...and depending on the dad's personality...you could make the tie real colorful or whatever. Hope that helps!

That shirt and tie idea is very cute. icon_smile.gif You could do tons of stuff with that idea. You could make a giant Fathers day card out of cake.Use the book pan or just make it yourself, then write in icing in it.

I had an idea for a cake that I wound up not using that I thought would be cute. Kinda a backyard scene with the main focal point being 2 trees and a hammock with a fondant ( dad) figure in it with a crown on..lol. I know it is pretty complicated but nearly all of my ideas are. I was thinking for the trees of covering dowels or pillars with brown colored fondant for the trunks...grass tip for the yard.

all great ideas.... this one guy that I am supposed to do a cake for is only a car/truck person...he cant cook or BBQ, doesnt really get into sports...I have looked at doing a "best dad" cake for him...well see...the wife told me even a plain cake would be fine...shes making it as easy as possible for me , but ideas just arent there... he isnt into normal guy stuff.... now my hubby is a hunter...I was going to do the deer cake that I sent instructions out for, but duh....it was packed......... so I will just do some choc cake with something quick on it for him.....

Hi,

My Aunt wants me to do a Cake for my Uncle and he likes to work with wood so my idea is to make some tools such as a saw, hammer, screwdriver and a ruler out of MMF and decorate the cake with them.I'm making the tools out of cookie cutters or you could buy a little kids tool set.

Hope you like my idea,

Thanks,
Stacy

The gallery on CC has plenty of ideas for fathers days cake. Just search under "fathers day". My husband owns an SUV and I am going to make him a cake for fathers day in the shape of an SUV.
