Hi everyone!

OK.... here's the situation. On Friday I have to make a Baby Shower cake and the theme is "Rubber Duckies". It's going to be for about 50 people...
I had somewhat of an idea but wanted to see if you guys can help me out as well.

My idea was this: 16" square pan (2 layers)
and then put a 10" round pan on top to the far left corner of square cake to make it look like a little tub.
Then just decorate both with blue and white and put 2 (baby shower is for 2 women) rubber duckies- 1 on the round pan, 1 on the square.

How do I make the soap bubbles??What do you think of my idea so far??
Thanks for all your help icon_smile.gif

In one of the wilton year books, they used white gum balls for the bubbles. You could always use some white fondant balls, or someother white round candies.

Do a search in the gallery. I've seen a few cakes almost exactly as you've described, and pm the decorators. They'll be happy to share their tips with you.

Sounds like a cute cake!!

I love the bath tub idea. What about a baby in the tub. I just made a baby shower cake with a tractor filled w/ bubbles and a baby.

I like the idea of the tub, a rubber duck, and maybe a washcloth hanging off the side of the tub.

Good Luck.

You could also use piping gel with a little blue coloring to resemble the water. and have it spilling over the side of the tub onto the floor(16") where the other duckie is sitting , you could also pipe a rug on the floor or maybe tiles so it looks like the floor in the bathroom. Good luck

What about an oval pan instead of the round for the tub. That would be a little more tub-like. Otherwise good luck it sounds cute.

I was thinking the same thing...but it's for about 50-60 people here at my work...
so maybe an 8' round pan on top would be better...

Thank you all for your advise!

I did this one, but it is not exactly like what you are describing. It only fed around 30 people, but could have cupcakes or something to go with it.

Great job on that!

But I don't know if I'll be able to pull that off...I've never done a 3-d cake before icon_redface.gif

If you can do fondant, can stack cakes, and have a knife, you can do it! There really was very little carving involved. If you are interested I would be happy to walk you through it, just let me know! The hardest part was getting the stupid beak to stay on LOL!

Bubbles: What about making them out of fondant to your desired sizes and brushing them with pearl dust or shaking them around in a bag that has pearl dust in it?
