Hello decorators, we are having a fund raiser where I work and I thought I would bake and decorate some 4 inch mini cakes, only thing is I don't know what kind of a price to put on these. We usually put our baked goods in the break area and it's kinda on the honor system and that has not been working out to good so this time we are going to price our baked goods, any advice would be great, thanks
since it is a fund raiser, people will probably not mind paying for the cakes anyway. Have you ever sold an 8 in cake? If so, I would probably just sell it for 1/2 of what you sell them for. If you haven't then I would sell it for $1.00 per serving. I also wouldn't go too crazy on decorations, keep it as simple as possible for yourself. Hope this helps a bit
i just did 15 mini cakes about a week ago and they are little buggers. i would not do them for any less then $10 per cake.
I definitely agree with Becky, the mini cakes are more time consuming than a regular size cake! Janice
Thanks for the advice, I have done 8 inch cakes and sold them but unless someone is cutting the cake for them the cake gets gone and there is no donation. I haven't done the mini cakes yet, but thought this would be a good idea for a fund raiser. Again thanks
When you're talking about mini cakes, are you speaking of 6", single ore double layer?
I found a 4 inch spring form at Micheals that I thought I would try, don't know how it will work out but I thought I would bake two layers and frost with just a simple flower on top, and maybe a small shell border.
The small double layer sounds pretty good, it is the three small stacked ones that are so difficult...I just finished one myself, and everything I smoothed as soon as I went to another layer I messed it up again, there isn't room to work on it! They are cute, but I'm not sure they are worth the trouble!
The mini cakes should be good for a fund-raiser, not everybody wants a full-size cake! I would think at least $4 or $5 for them would be fair! Janice
I agree with Janice... 4 inch double layer cakes with a simple flower should sell for about 5 doll hairs. It's such a shame, though, that you can't trust the people you work with all of the time!
