I am wondering how long Buttercream is good for and how it should be stored ?
I am specifically wondering about the Crusting Buttercream and Cream Cheese Crusting Buttercream recipes that are on this site .

the non-butter buttercreams have a fairly long lifespan, and you can freeze leftovers.

Cream cheese icing is only safe until the expiration date on the cream cheese. You can freeze the leftovers, but the creamcheese will change texture, so it really is only good for fillings.

I use 1/2 butter and 1/2 shortening. I freeze all leftovers in freezer ziplock bags for later use. Works great.

I read somewhere here at CC that the crusting BC ( all Crisco) can be stored in the fridge for up to two weeks so that's what I do. I have all my colored frosting in piping bags inside a large ziploc bag and in air tight containers.
I recently froze a large batch and when I defrosted it, it came out just fine.

How long is all crisco good on the counter top? Covered in a bowl.
