I have a box of pudding and some whipping cream. How do I make a filling for the cake?? Do I whip the cream and add the prepared pudding? or do I put the powder pudding in the whipped cream? Or am I completely off here?? I'm so confused.... icon_confused.gif

TIA! icon_smile.gif

I have made a really good banana filling out of a thing of cool whip, some pudding and cream cheese... I made the pudding like the box said, then I added a whole thing of cool whip and a bar (8oz0 of cream cheese. I just beat it and beat it then I put it between a french vanilla layer cake I also put bananas in the pudding mix once it was all done, folded them in very carefully it is basically the recipe for one of paula dean's banana pudding recipes, but instead of using the chessman cookies i smooshed it in a cake, I had to keep it in the fridge but let me tell ya i'm getting fatter just remembering..

I've never done this. But, I would reduce the amount of milk if you prepare the pudding first.

I'd probably prepare the pudding mix (reducing the milk), whip the cream and fold the pudding into the whipped cream.

icon_surprised.gif Sounds wonderful! I love Paula's, "Not Yo Mama's Banana Pudding". It's the only Banana Pudding I make. But, I never thought about doing this with it. OH MY GOODNESS!!! I can't wait to make it! Thank you for such a great idea!

I just mix the box of instant pudding with a pint of heavy whipping cream in the mixer until stiff.

I pretty much do the exact same thing. However much milk is called for, that's how much heavy cream I use. I beat it by hand though, using a whisk because it's easy and takes no time. When it starts to weep, I put it in the icebox until it stiffens up enough to spread.
