I did last night and find myself very disappointed and wondered if it was just me. I know everything is subject to personal taste but what I ended up with was a very crumbly cake - although not dry. I used DH cake mix. Oven temp was perfect. I watched carefully to make sure wasn't overdone. And the ganache (even with the peppermint schnapps) just didn't seem to do anything but make the chocolate taste so strong that the peppermint flavor was lost.

The peppermint buttercream is awesome. I'm thinking about trying it with a different chocolate cake and maybe even using a peppermint flavored buttercream (without the crushed candy).

Any other suggestions??

Yummmm...peppermint buttercream. Add peppermint instead of vanilla? Do share.
