I have some customers who give me alot of business and lots of referrals. Just wondering if there is anything special you do for those customers like thank you notes, special discounts, etc. Just wanting to show my appreciation for those who give me lots of referrals. Thinking I may need to get some sort of postcard made up or something.....just brainstorming here.

For the ones who help me by coming back I usually throw in extra cookies or go out of the way with little extras. There was one one used me a few times for friends bdays & then when her daughter got married she wanted favors. So instead of just ribbon I found little gold rings to attach to the bags as well. Not a big deal but she totally appreciated the little something extra & has since been back for a baby shower & birthday. I also like to stick a little thank you note in the box with the cookies for them to find them they empty the box. But I do that for most of my customer (depending on my time).

If I am experimenting, I give them my new items that I am trying out. It acts as a nice little ad piece, too, because they often remember the next time they need to order that, "ooohh, that was a great lemon cake, maybe I will order that". I also throw in extra cookies here and there or little treats whenever I have excess if I have an order to make. It makes a world of difference, let me tell you. icon_lol.gif Oh, by the way, I heard about someone doing a gift certificate equal to 10% of the first new orders of anyone that is referred by that client. I hope that makes sense.

i know i've gotten the response from customers when you mail them a thank you note. i know most of the time you may not have their address but it seems to me that most people appreciate the effort of having to mail them something. i've even had customers that have called me to thank me for sending them a card. also for my repeat customers or customers that refer alot of people, i usually give them a discount on their next order.

I've given a box of chocolate covered Oreos or cake bites, extra cookies, and depending on the customer, have added a greeting card for the occasion.

I have one customer I can think of right off the bat, that orders the same cake from me ever other month, for her office... Last time she was here, I gave it to her no charge. I have a couple vendors, that I will drop "thank you" cakes off too on occassion (they love that!)... I'll also drop a thank you note in the mail if I get a wedding referral from someone... Referrals are the best compliment you can get, and a the best way to grow your business!
