Does anyone know who (which company) made the copper cookie cutters that used to be sold in the Martha by Mail catalog? I'm hoping to find out if this company is still around and making new designs. My best guess so far is Old River Road (?) (you can find their work at fancyflours.com or in the Sweet Celebrations catalog).
Cakebox, I don't know, I'm sorry....did you check her site for any info? I'm sure you can contact them somehow, although I'm not sure how much information they will give you since she is selling them out of her catalog.
Thanks Zamode - I thought her catalog business shut down some time ago. Do you have a link? I just tried searching her shop site and still couldn't get anything.
Cakebox, I'm sorry, I didn't know; I don't order anything from her. Is there a "contact us" anywhere on the page, you can write to someone? There might be some info on her site, there must be a section devoted to her program. ?
Will you please let us know what they say? I've been looking for a set like her alphabet cutters forever and can't find one. I've found many sets, but the letters don't look how I want them too. Yes, I'm picky!
TIA!
Wow what happen that you are on strike?!
Dizzymaiden I have Zaxapoaphobia! Fear of royal icing! I stink at cookie decorating, it's a long story!
Maybe Martha made her own cutters when she was in jail, you know how inmates in some states make license plates? Sorry!!! I couldn't resist!

I can't stop laughing.
"Making your own cutters in the can....it's a good thing" I'll stop now.
Cakebox let us know if you are able to find out any information, good luck
Golfgirl, according to Martha's site, there are alphabet cutters there by Williams-Sonoma.
Cakebox, I found this on Old River Road's website, which is bascially a black screen right now:
Old River Road copper cookie cutters will soon be available through the net, but in the meantime please give us a call at 530-342-1517. We will be more than happy to answer any questions or send you a brochure of our fabulous cutters.
I also found them here but even if you contacted them, you might not have much luck unless you live in Texas: http://www.zoolala.com/offer.php
Thanks again and LOL Zamode! I thought I was already paying designer prices for my license plates, but now I have to have Martha's!
Just to clarify - Martha's cutter source would have been under a nondisclosure /noncompete agreement for a certain amount of time. They probably won't be able to sell the earlier designs. Just looking for cutter makers that do nice work. Most retailers choose not to identify these companies. I'm still waiting for the ORR brochure (I had already contacted her - and when it comes I'll report back.)
It would be nice to have a thread or something with sources for certain types of cutters. One that I know of is www.littlefoxfactory.com and they have a nice assortment, but they sure do have a wonderful dog collection.
http://www.cuttermarq.com/ has aviation and military cutters; it's owned by the wife a marine corps helicopter pilot. I have no reason to get these but I think these are very cool.
http://www.frankencutters.com/cccc/tinsmith.htm - various sources listed
There's some really neat stuff out there - it's just not easy to find sometimes.
Cheers,
~cakebox
I have been looking at the alphabet cutters at Williams Sonoma. Maybe I'll go check those out. Thanks!
kitchengifts.com has beautiful, high quality copper cutters. a little pricey, but you will probably find anything you might want. also, they make custom if you need!!
Update - Found the coppersmith who made Martha's cutters:
http://www.michaelbonne.com/home.html
The ORR brochure is nice - they produce cutters seen in Williams-Sonoma. They make other products too - a few cake/pastry stands and copper serving trays. Can't wait 'til their site is up.
