We are having our annual family reunion (boring). I am wanting to do a cake this year and I'm tired of the traditional sheet cake with roses. Does anyone have any cute ideas, i'm at a loss . Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I'm doing one tonight with my FIL and his 8 children in an edible image pic on the cake.... I can't decide what else to use to fill in around the picture... the cake will be a 12 X 18" cake .. the photo is 8 x 10" .. so there will be some space around to fill in... I'm trying to come up with ideas for the extra areas on the cake ...

eriead289, maybe look up some family history of your last name... there may be a coat of arms or something in the heritage of your last name that you could do an image (BCT or edible image) of on your cake.

this was a cute ideal I saw in the wilton course 1 book, it was a sheet cake decorated with a tree, it had branches coming off the tree with little faces for a family reunion maybe just put the names of each family member or famlies

thank you for all your help. I made a big cookie in the shape of a tree trunk. then did cupcakes with green frosting and added faces. The family was tickled to death with it. I don't know what I would do without ya'll.

ntertayneme, I am doing a photo cake for someone this weekend too. I like putting a border around my image and then adding dots or swirls in my extra space. I am also planning to use candy letters for my message. Have fun!
