Is $40-$50 an hour a good price for renting a commercial kitchen? A catering service is renting out there commercial kitchen for this price and wasn't sure if this was good. I guess it really depends on how many orders I have.

How fast can you get a cake done? Seems like you would have to charge alot to recoup your costs!

Yikes. The way I bake cakes, that would be $50 tacked on to the price of the cake at the get-go, just to mix and bake the darn thing!

Seems pretty pricey to me.

Well, that works out to be about $400 for an 8-hour day. Will you be able to make enough cakes in that amount of time to cover your rent, ingredients and man hours and still make a profit? If yes, then it would be a good price. If no, then keep on searching for a better deal! icon_wink.gif

If I could find anything nearly as good a deal as the last two posts I'd still be baking commercially. I don't think I can rent a tent for that much money here where I live!!! icon_lol.gif

Yikes!!!! I'm no expert, but the first thing I done when I read your post was figure how much an 8 hour day would cost and when I seen it was $400, that told the story for me. There is NO WAY I can do $400 profit a day. They're crazy! All I can say is it must be a a really good part of town. I thought I must have figured something wrong, how could they actually charge THAT much. Then I seen Cookieman's comments and seen he was on the same page as I was and knew I didn't figure wrong. You would be working yourself to death and STILL losing money. Sure is a nice dream to be able to have a commerical kitchen tho, I'm right there with you and don't give up, one day you will!!! Good Luck!
