ARGHGHGHGGH!!!
I've been through three batches of white cupcakes this morning, all using recipes that I know work for layer cakes and they ALL came out horrible!! The ones with butter tasted great but shrank and/or fell... the shortening ones baked fine but the only things I could taste were flour and baking powder. BLECH!
Does anyone have a tried-and-true white cupcake recipe that doesn't use a mix? I'd be eternally grateful...
Lori
There was one posted for a recipe that uses one egg. I think it was MrsMissy that posted it. (I could be wrong).
I can't put my hands on that recipe, but it was really easy and tasted great too.
hi...do you have the new martha stewart baking hand book? i make her white cake recipe in layer cake for but the book says its a cup cake recipe. its the only white cake recipe that i tried that worked for me. if you dont have the book let me know and i can "copy" the recipe on here for you. its really easy.
The white cupcakes in the Whimsical bakehouse book are really good. I can't stop eating them!
I need to make these on fairly short notice... since my cookbook allowance got axed (oh darn that family budget), I have to request books from the library... and it takes them weeks to get them!
Any help would be so appreciated!
Thanks,
Lori
I found a link online for the recipe:
http://www.katespatisserie.com/2005/08/vanilla-cupcakes.html
I always double the recipe and it makes more than 24 reg size cupcakes.
Also, make sure you scrape the bowl really well since you start with the flour in the bowl it will surely try to stick to the bottom.
