Can I refrigerate a cake once it's been airbrushed? What will happen if I do? Thank you so much in advance!

it depends on what kind of frosting you are using
it might bead a little from the condensation but other than that it should be ok. Just to let ya know good ol bc is the best frosting base for airbrushing but the best support for airbrushing is of course fondant. It has the smoothest surface and keeps the oils from beading up the paint (as it were). The absolute worst surface to airbrush is bettercream. It looks good for a while and then the frosting literally "sucks" all the color and it fades very badly.
Just some observations from my experiences with different frostings and airbrushing

I'm just using buttercream. I'm doing a camouflage theme cake and want to airbrush the brown/black I think. I just didn't know how well it would refrigerate.

What is bettercream?? ANd I thought you couldn't refrigerate fondant??

Thanks again for the help.

I iced one in SMBC yesterday, airbrushed it and refrigerated it. it came out this morning and there was no issue...no beading, no running, nothing. Looked great!

Bettercreme is a non dairy whipped topping. Its just like Pastry Pride, which is what I use. It comes frozen, you thaw and whip it up. And yes, it does suck up the color as chaptlps said. When I airbrush on Pastry Pride, I make sure the cake has been refridgerated overnite and I airbrush a bit darker then I want and I have no problems with it.
