HELLO
I AM MAKING A 50TH ANNIVERSARY CAKE. BAKED IT TUESDAY.
FROSTED IT WITH BUTTERCREAM ON WEDNESDAY. DECORATED IT ON THURSDAY AND FRIDAY. PARTY IS AT 6:00 SATURDAY. STANDARD YELLOW, CHOCOLATE CAKE INSIDE. AFTER CRUST FORMED CAKE HAVE BEEN COVERED. WILL CAKE BE EDIBLE AND MOIST? DON'T KNOW HOW LONG YOU CAN GO BEFORE CAKE IS NO LONGER EDIBLE. HELP!
Your cake will be fine. I normally bake on a Thursday for Saturday cakes but all will be okay. No worries
Yes, it will be fine. I had my cake classes on Thursdays and with my weeks being so hectic I would have to bake and frost my cakes on Sunday. They sat until Friday and when I brought them into work they were still moist and very good...
Even sitting several days it's fresher than the grocery store, I've seen the same cake 3 Tuesdays in a row at our local store.
I was told that an iced, uncut cake will stay moist and fresh for 5-6 days. The thick layer of icing keeps the air and moisture away from the cake.

Agree. It's like the plastic wrap around the loaf of bread that sat in your store for 3-4 days then sat in your pantry for another 3-5 days.
I baked my daughter's shower cake on Thurs (baked, iced and decorated same day) for a Saturday shower and had a piece of leftover cake the following Wed (7 days old) and it tasted as fresh as Day One.
