I made candy clay about 4 hours ago and wanted to use it right now, but it seems to be very waxy for some reason! Do I knead all of that in? I don't think I can get it to come off anyway! What happened?!?!!? It seems very soft after I knead it too.... How long does it take to harden?

Thanks!

Most of the waxiness is probably the fats that leached out of the candy. To have a pliable clay, you should knead it smooth. It may be a bit warm at that point. I flatten it fairly thin and chill it for a few minutes.

Then you can knead it just enough to make it usable. If it is too soft, chill it more.
