Those are nice but she does not tell you that you can not use mounted stamps - the glue is not FDA approved and is not safe adhesive they use on stamp mounting. I stamp cookies and use un-mounted stamps (a lot cheaper) and an arylic block. I learned from the link belows.

here is some links if you want to take a look.

The link below she give classes:

http://www.sweetstampen.com/

http://www.rubberstampsclub.com/tips/monthly-projects/april03/april03.html

this link has a good deal on un-mounted stamps and arylic blocks.

CUTE!

Why would the glue matter if it was not the part that touches the cookies? (I am not trying to be a smarta$$...I am truly curious icon_biggrin.gif)

No, problem - If you look at link sweetstampen.com. The glue is consider a toxic glue and the rubber is touching the glue. My friends sell stamps and check with her company the told not to recommened using mounted stamps for cookies or cake decorating because of the glue.

For me I rather be safe and the un-mounted stamps are easier to put away and cheaper.

After reading this post, stamping cookies sounded like sooo much fun, so I ordered some items from Sweet Stampen. I haven't had time to use them yet. I got the stamp pad, the rubber stamp ink, a sampler of the stamping paint colors, and a rubber stamp to practice with.

I just want to mention that she initially did not want to sell to me because she suspected I was going to use these products to stamp with unmounted rubber stamps that I would acquire on my own. She insists that these stamps, even unmounted, are NOT made of food safe rubber. Regular rubber stamps are made of porous rubber, which means it can absorb whatever comes into contact with it and end up on your cookies. If you search the internet for food safe rubber, Sweet Stampen is the only supplier I could find. So, for custom stamps, I agreed to have her make the stamps for me. She runs 'plates' monthly and can combine with other orders to reduce the costs.

However, since talking with her, I have discovered this site http://www.culinart.net/silicone.html. He sells food-safe rubber that you can use to make your own molds!! By the way, he was super friendly and helpful!

I haven't done any experimenting yet with either product. I just wanted to share what I learned because the advice from Sweet Stampen about using only food-safe rubber seems really important. She actually told me that someone she once sold her products to tried to sue her when one of their customers got sick from a stamp they had made on their own with unsafe rubber. The more I think about it, it makes a lot of sense since some people are allergic to rubber & latex.

If anyone else knows anything about any food-safe rubber out there, please share with us.

Hmmm--I wonder if you can use those foam type stamps--the ones that are bigger (but not too big and chunkier) I bought some a long time ago at Michael's to stamp on shirts with.

I obviously would not use the ones I used for shirts, but they are pretty cheap and have some really cute patterns that would easily fit on a cookie.

I have used the chunky stamps for decorating cookies... you just have to wash them with a mild soap and let them dry...They work fine... you can even stamp the cookie before you bake them if you like

I bought some cutters that came with a matching foam stamp at Michaels last year, they had a whole line of them.

I will try attaching a photo here, but I always have trouble with that.

I haven't used them yet, but was going to.

Well it isn't working so I will put it in the cookie picture gallery for a few days if anyone wants to see what it looks like. Sorry icon_sad.gif

Tscookies - I am suprise she would not sell to you just because you may buy stamps else where.. She did a TV show (link below) and her directions say to use un-mounted stamps (link below). Sugarcraft sell the stampin cookie stuff too.

I hope enjoy cookie stamping it is fun. I have done a few parties as these as favors kids and adults love them.
