Hi-
There have been times when I am reading a post or looking at a picture and I've sent the person a private message. This seems an ok thing to do. What I'm wondering is, if you do a search and find an older picture or an older forum post, should you ask the person first if it's ok to send them a private message?

I sent two people private messages and haven't heard back from them. I'm not concerned with that really since I know people are busy and everyone may not be a CC addict like myself. icon_biggrin.gif I guess I just want to make sure I'm not going about things the wrong way or offending anyone by just sending them a PM.

Thanks in advance

I, personally, love getting private messages. You just need to remember that not ever one keeps their account current so you may not get a response right away (or at all).

You don't need permission to send a PM....there's no guarantee that you will get an answer, but if you have a question or comment, feel free to send one.
Personally, I don't delete any PM's. I had a stack of icon_eek.gif28 of them that I simply didn't have time to get to until last week. Slowly, but surely, I answered all of them with my apologies for the delay. I think most activ members will gladly answer you.

Sometimes if it is an 'old' cake I will glance at the person's post record to see if they are still active on the site. I know that not everyone participates in the threads but this has worked well so far. If they are not currently posting to the forums or posting new pictures, and I have a question I will ask in the forums. HTH

Thanks everyone for your responses. icon_biggrin.gif I completely understand about people not getting back to me, I guess I just wanted to make sure there weren't any "rules" around when to pm and when not to.
