This is probably the wrong place to ask this question since most of you are "scratch" bakers, but I'm hoping you can help me! Can anyone tell me how to find out the difference between the chocolate cakes mixes off the shelf? My grocery store carries Devil's Food, Dark Chocolate Fudge, Swiss Chocolate, German Chocolate, and Butter Recipe chocolate cakes. What the heck is the difference between them all?

I use cake mixes all the time. I hope this will help.

Devils Food-- medium chocolate.. good flavor.. probably most popular

Dark Chocolate-- most likely made with dutch cocoa.. deep chocolate flavor

Swiss Chocolate.. lighter chocolate.. lighter flavor.. kind of like milk chocolate

German Chocolate.. made with a sweet, light german chocolate.. usually frosted with a coconut pecan frosting.

Butter Recipe uses butter to replace the oil called for in the mix. Chocolate flavor is like that of devils food.. maybe a touch richer tasting because of the butter.
