Three friends are throwing me a baby shower and I'd like to make them each a cookie bouquet. There's only one catch, I've never made a cookie bouquet but it seems pretty straight forward. Roll out the ccokies to 1/4' thick, insert stick, bake and decorate, right? I do have a couple of questions though, what kind of sticks do I use, how thick, wood or plastic? How thick should I roll out the dough? Also, does anyone have any ideas for cookies (shapes, etc) or containers I can put the cookies in? How many cookies should I do per bouquet? Okay, so it's not as straight forward as I thought!

Hi and CONGRATS!!!!

I just use the lollipop sticks from Wilton, usually the 6" to 8" work fine for me. You're dead on with the 1/4" thickness. That should be able to accomodate the sticks just fine. Although, I do know some people who go as much as a 1/2" thick icon_eek.gif though I think that's just a little too thick for me. It all depends on preference. Flower shaped cookies would be nice and you could write "thank you" in the middle of one in the center of the bouquet. You could find containers practically anwhere! I've found them in the oddest places. If you want a flower pot, I'd suggest Big Lots (if there's one by you). They sell them for under a dollar up to 3.00 depending on the size. You could also check Michaels, the dollar store, Ross, Kmart, Walmart, Target... anywhere really. As for the amount of cookies, I would think 3 to 5 per bouquet would suffice nicely. And then add filler (tissue, crinkle paper, etc)... Hope that helps! And remember, HAVE FUN WITH IT!!! Everything is up to what you think looks nice and what you like. thumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gif

I would choose a simple shape - heart, circle, flower, star, etc. As far as how many, I've been told it's best to use an odd number.

Good luck and congratulations on the new addition!

Okay, so this may be a stupid question... But what do you put in the bottom of the container you choose to use to hold the cookies up? I am new to this and just curious. Do you really bake the cookies with the sticks in them?

I usually stick the sticks in after I bake while the cookies are still piping hot. But you could do either way. Whatever works best for you.

To hold the cookies up you could use different things. I use styrofoam. I've been thinking about M&M's though (I've heard that that could work). You could also use jelly beans. thumbs_up.gif

Make sure you put something heavy in the bottom of your container so it doesn't tip! (Ask me how I know... icon_confused.gif )
