Hi I was thinking of making a golf cake with water mad out of gel icing and I wanted to make a little sand pit. Does anyone have an idea ho I can make edible looking sand?
thanks
i've used graham cracker crumbs and white cake crumbs both. with the cake crumbles if you have extra cake or have to cut some off the sides to even it out crumble it up, spread a thin layer on a cookie sheet and bake for about 10 minutes or until they're crunchy. this turns them lite brown and looks nice too. i also save the extra chocolate cake, bake it the same way and you've got instant dirt for a construction cake or whatever else you can think up. good luck!!
I used vanilla wafers in a food processor for sand when I made a sand pile for a construction site cake.
If you ever want to make top soil, oreo cookies in a food processor work great! Use the whole cookie, cream and all.
