I am so excited. I got a job as a Wilton Cake Decorating Instructor! I was so nervous my first class, but really enjoyed it last week. My second class was 9 young girls and we had a blast! And now I am just waiting for my biz license to get here, so I can start advertising. Wow so much has happened this year. Question -- What do you think of the name "Cakes By Design"?

Oohhhh.....I love the name! It sounds very specialized and personal, not assembly line ala Wal-Mart!

I would check out that name. If you do a google on it there is lots of cakes by design I wanted to use that name but couldn't get approved since its already being used. Just giving you heads up.

Congrats on your new job!!! I just googled cakes by design and got over 7,000 hits. Even if its not in the actual name, it's in the description. IMO even if you could use that name will make it very difficult to pinpoint and find your business.

Thanks for the tips on the name. Call me crazy Doug, but I like Howlin' Good Cakes. I was trying to come up with a name that incorporates my last name somehow, without sounding to "Alaskian". Anymore suggestions?

To luvbakin, no you don't need the license to be an instructor. I am still in the process of getting mine. I just needed to make up my mind on a name, befoer I send the paperwork through.

That sounds like an awesome job!! icon_biggrin.gif How did you go about locating this job? I live in Alabama and don't have a clue if a job like this is available where I live. Are you going to be working your own hours? Any additional information about this would be fantastic!!!

Thanks Pootchi. My DH says Howlin' Good Cakes sounded a little corny to him, but I had a friend suggest Forget Me Not Cakes. What do you guys think of that?

Cupcakefetish, go to wilton.com and check out the page for Instructors from the choices on the left. You can fill out an online application if ther is a job opening in your area.

Hey Doug, I have a new post on here regarding my tips. Your input would be greatly appreciated.

forget me not cakes just as corny.

and if your last name is "wolf" then howlin' good cakes will certainly be more memorable.

Congrats on the job! I start as an instructor next week and I can't wait. I like Howlin good cakes. It may be a little corny, but it's very memorable. I can't tell you how many times I've seen a business card or even passed a place and told myself to remember it. Well, more often than not, I don't remember because it's just a regular name. If it's catchy, I'm more likely to remember it. You might want to ask people in your area though, the people whose business you hope to get. I can imagine howlin good cakes would go over better in some parts of the country than others.

Okay, so it is coming down to the finish line. I like Howlin' Good Cakes, but I also like Forget Me Not Cakes, Honeysuckle Delights and Tric's Confectionary Delights. Any other choices out there? I am open to suggestions before making my final choice Friday evening. I am originally Cajun, so if there are any ideas that way too.
