How to make shoe-box lid???

For any of those who have made the shoe box cake, can you please tell me what the lid is made of? I want to make a shoe-box style cake, with some gumpaste tissue sticking out between the box and lid. Is the lid also made from gumpaste? Or do I have to cover a piece of cardboard or styrofoam? I prefer to keep everything edible on my cakes, but I don't know if gumpaste is strong enough.

Thanks!

I havent made a shoe box...but I have made the gift box....I used cake on its own board, that might not work for a shoe box lid if youre wanting it tilted off the box....

what about covering graham crackers or something like that in gumpaste.....

Gumpaste alone is strong enough.  Don't roll it too thin and allow it several days or even weeks to dry thoroughly.
