I decided to enter a decorated cake in our County Fair this year (first time). I purchased my styrofoam at Walmart, taped them together and then covered them with plastic wrap. Since I was using buttercream icing, I thought the plastic wrap would protect the forms so I could re-use them. I didn't even THINK about icing the dummy FIRST, so I just decorated right along, fat, dumb and happy ~ all proud of myself. Well, it's been in the 90's here for the past week, (do you see where this is going?) and before I could even get the "cake" to the Fair for entry, the icing began separating and sliding down! I took these photos before I left my house, so imagine how bad it looked by the time I got there to enter it! I was somewhat relieved it was on the backside of the cake ~ I just did not have time to redo it ~ And get this...I won Second place! Is there a book about "Dummies for Dummies"??
