These are Toba's butter cookie's with Antonia's icing. I'm still on the look out for the perftect icing. I like the way Toba's tastes but not the way it dries (got very cloudy and had sugar crystals form on top). Antonia's icing was too sweet and it dries dull (tried to the corn syrup trick and it didn't work). If anyone has any other icing recipies, please share! I'm going to try candy clay next, but I realize that won't work for all cookies.

As you can see my hand is not so steady yet, but practice makes perfect!

Okay here goes this was the first recipe I tried working with cookies.
10 parts Dry Candy Fondant
1 part Water
Flavoring
You can make it thicker by adding more dry fondant or thinner with more water..I usually use a good almond extract(but don't know if would affect nut allergy people)Just wisk by hand, it blends well and add your color of choice. I usally put this into one of those plastic bottle which takes any size plastic or metal tip. This does well with flooding and dries to a firm, but stackable icing. thumbs_up.gif

Great job on the cookies fragglerock1! They look terrific. I use Toba's a lot and had several issues with cloudiness and sugar crystalization. I found if I mixed, mixed, and mixed some more, the problem was solved. thumbs_up.gif

I also use the recipe bettybaker mentions. Easy, tasty, love it! I get my powder candy fondant from a cake supply store. It's CK Products brand... http://www.ckproducts.com/ .

You are off to a great start on your cookies. Can't wait to see more!

Love your cookies.. the colours are so vibrant.. Great job!!
I use the glaze icing for all my cookies.. I really liked Antonia's icing too but I just found the meringue powder too expensive where I live so I use this recipe and I love it..

Sugar Glaze

2 c. powdered sugar
2 tbsp. water
1 tbsp. light corn syrup
almond extract or vanilla to suit your taste
colour of your choice
Stir ingredients together well. This consistency is for outlining. Add additional water (I usually add a few drops at a time) to thin down for filling in the outline.
