Does anyone have a good recipe for a moist, plain cake suitable for a wedding cake? The bride liked the Silver White Cake recipe (I found it on here), but she said that it was a little too dry. Any suggestions?

You could brush the cake with a hot symple syrup about 5 min after it comes out the oven.

I use aprox 1/4 cup sugar (or sometimes no sugar) to 1 cup water and bring to boil over stove or in microwave. (Optional add 1/4 cp amaretto). You have to judge how much of the solution to use, I would say one batter would take at least 1/3 of the solution. And no, I've never had a cake turn out soggy.

Note: with the no sugar option, you are just replacing some of the moisture that was lost duing baking.

Or

Sometimes, I cool the cake for approx 10 min, then cover with saran wrap. This help to prevent the cake from loosing too much moisture.

And/Or

If concerned about the cake being too sweet, after the cake is cool and has been torted, I will just brush it with a solution of 3/4 cups room temp water and 3 tablespoons amaretto or other liquor.

Use this one instead from Cook's Illustrated. It is my favorite white cake, moist, tender crumb...
