What was your best advertisment investment that you did? I know word of mouth is always the best and cheapest, but if you did spend money on say fliers or ads what worked or got the best response. Thanks all, just trying to get busier so I can quit my full time job and do cakes full time.

i don't have a business, but i think one the best advertisments is a phone book ad... for instance, if you were to hand me a flyer-- it would probably get thrown away after a week.so when i need a cake- i don't have it. I usually have to look up phone numbers to call a bakery anyways and i would see your ad-- and i might call it. just my opinion though.

i found my baker on craigslist.com free and effective! I plan to advertise there when the time is right. You may also want to try local moms clubs. Most have newsletters and you can advertize for the year for @ $50. Chea way to reach tons of moms with tons of parties plan.

I took cakes to events where I was already involved.....gave free cakes to the neighbors......dropped cakes off at banks and businesses.... VERY quickly, I had lots of customers! Taste and See is worth much more than reading, I believe. AND I OWN A SIGN COMPANY!!! lol

The best business advertising I ever did was my first. I took about 6 photos to the printers and they made me up a "pop-up" flier pretty cheaply. (I think I got 200 for $300?) I didn't want just a 3-fold pamphlet that people might glance at and throw away. This one folded out at 4 angles and was really cute, simple and fun!

To save money, I took them home and cut them all out, folded and mailed them myself to all the local wedding planners and venues I could find listed in the phone book and online. Everytime I found a new planner, I'd mail them one to introduce myself.

The business that came in from just that $300 investment was enough for me to quit my job and do this full-time! thumbs_up.gificon_smile.gifthumbs_up.gificon_biggrin.gifthumbs_up.gificon_smile.gif

Thanks all for the advice, I too decided to try magnets this year. I also think that brochures can get thrown away and also business cards. I am doing what we have here called Crime Night Out and usually this brings in a huge crowd from young to old. I think it is great to hear from others on what works for them for advertisement. A person could spend so much on advertisement and get nothing out of it.

Just a note I got 200 business card size magnets for $40.00 from www.vistaprint.com thought that was quite a bargin.
