I'm fairly new to the site and think it's pretty great.

The only suggestion for improvement I have right now would be to make the cake photos in the gallery sized so that you can see the entire photo and the description on the screen, maybe with an option to enlarge the photo to see details.

Thanks.

re: the above suggestion...You can make the pictures bigger by clicking on the picture in the gallery. So you can see details and read about the cake made. I hope I didn't miss understand the suggestion.

Actually, I was talking about after you click on it in the gallery.
At that point, it's too big to see the photo and the comments at the same time.
Sorry if I wasn't clear in my first post.

How about a multi posting option when you upload a picture...

We all want to show off our cakes, in as much areas as possible. Of course, there are only four thumbnails on the main page, which is the first thing members will see upon login in. On occasions, our cakes fall into different categories, and we may just want to put them in each. Now what happens is that your picture appears twice, and boots down the last person unnesasarily. I did this and actually felt guilty for having two of the same pic, while the last one had not been on for long. \\

So after all this, how about you create three options/categories, where we can choose which categories we want to our pic in , but only one picture shows on the main page, giving others a chance to showcase their work.

Hi, I'm new to this site and I must agree with CakesbyJoJo. Sleeping is not easy. Just waiting for responses and new photos is exciting. icon_eek.gif Here I have an idea. Could there be a page named "Don'ts" or "THE BIG NO NO'S IN BAKING". This could include everyones thoughts on big dont's in baking, creating, piping etc. Now you have something very, very similar with the forums. Only could this page include photo's of our mess ups. icon_redface.gif Because I just made Rolled Buttercream, with dark syrup and colored vanilla only because that is what I had in my cabinets. I was very curious to see what this did. Well I must show everyone the mess it made. It is reall greasy and the taste icon_surprised.gif it's real real sweet. I mean is there really a big difference in dark syrup vs. light syrup, colored vanilla vs. clear vanilla other than color? I need some feed back on this recipe and would love to show you all what it looks like, but don't want to load it with everyones beautiful cakes..
Am I making any sense here? dunce.gif

I agree with Brian's Baker-an area that could be called "cake disasters". This could cover failed experiments, accidents (like my family reunion cake that had a gallon of apple juice placed on the box), wedding disasters, first time techniques that didn't quite work out (like my sculpted Dora cake that belonged in a horror movie)and things like that. Besides being funny icon_lol.gif , it could also be a place to ask for help in avoiding mistakes in the future. I know I could use help.

It would be really handy if we were able to edit our own pictures in the gallery. Like we do our discussion posts.

For example, I posted my surviving 30 cake and then realized I forgot to add a bit more information. I reposted the pic but would have rather edited it since those pics can take up a lot of space on the server.

Not sure how much programming work that would be.

Hello it's me again Briansbaker, thinking all the time. icon_biggrin.gif
What do you ladies think about a forum reading something like "All about me". I would love to know who I am talking to. We are obviously all getting to know each other through our cakes, but how about "are you married?" "how many kiddos do you have?" "how did you start making cakes?" etc.. I could go on and on..But I won't. tapedshut.gif And what about trying to use our own photos in the avatar profile would that work? icon_confused.gif
Again just me thinking! Bye ladies and thank you for all you have taught me.. and Special thanks to Jackie for allowing us all to be "Us".

Briansbaker: That is a good suggestion, although I do like to guess what the people are like when I read their stories and questions. (I'm a newbie also as you would say) This is an absolutely wonderful website to say the least! All the information given, hints, suggestions, dos and don'ts...and the pictures are super! A "Great-Big Thank You" to all those behind the scenes, and a Thank You to those who post so much great advice.

Well, I think allowing the rating of your cakes by stars should be optional for the posting member, or the ones who vote on that should be accountable in some way. I think we have trolls voting many of the cakes with zeros.

We should have the option to edit our notes on the cake posts and to delete the pictures if we want to.

Thanks for reading this!

Yeah icon_razz.gif I think that sounds like a great solution thumbs_up.gif ...have the rating optional, or have not have them "star" rated. It may save some hurt feelings. icon_wink.gif
