i just bought my first tub. i Finally found a store around me, i'm in MA, that sells it. i was using pettinice before and i have to say that the satin ice tastes 100 times better then anything i've tried...it's actually yummy!
I couldn't agree more! I've been bragging so much on Satin Ice, over the past few years, that they should pay me a commission!! LOL!!
Thanks for the info, I'm going to have to give it a try! Sooooooo many things I need to try.
I agree. I haven't made MMF, but I hear satin ice has a similiar flavor. I've never tried pettinice.
OK..even though IHATEFONDANT..I have to say that Satin Ice is the best tasting one I've tried...the chocolate tastes like a Tootsie roll.....the best part is their factory is about 20 minutes from me... .....
Last nite I made my own fondant from Toba Garrett's book, using orange oil for flavor.......tonite will see how well it works as it has to sit for 24 hours. I can tell you that just tasting a piece of the final product, sooooo much better than that Wilton stuff.........now just hoping it rolls out and performs as well. Will have to post a pic when I am done.

Hi all!
I've seen satin ice mentioned here quite a bit. Does anyone have a favorite recipe for it? I've only come across one and have wanted to try it.
I hate making fondant so much. Only made it twice. First time was to see if I could actually make it and the second time was to see if I really hated making it or was just having a bad day the first time. Well I can honestly say that I hate making it. Satin Ice sounds like something I would like to try. So you just get this stuff out of the container and roll out or make whatever? There is not mixing or anything like that? I was going to try Wiltons just for accents but after hearing all the negative comments about it, i'm afraid someone might actually eat some of it and throw up or something.
Does anyone know where to get Satin Ice in Canada? Particularly, Ontario?
The 'local' cake stores around here only sell Wilton and McCall's brands and I will not put either one on a cake ever again.
I still use Wilton for some minor decorations, but do warn people not to eat them because of the taste.

It's ready to use. Just a little kneading is required. You can color it and add extracts to it if you want.
