well i'm officially bummed out right now. About a month ago, i posted a thread about that i was doing a little mermaid cake and i wanted to do the characters in color flow, but was having probs due to the extensive detail. Ppl then suggested that i do the details in the wilton markers.. i thought great idea. Well, the cake is due on Sunday, so i made the images and when i tried to do their faces it was NOT good. I got an evil looking ariel and sebastien!!!! I need help or tips on how on earth to make their facial features look like they are supposed to! Has anyone ever had this prob, or done anything like this?

was problem spreading of color in details?

lines to big w/ markers?

use color thinned w/ ALCOHOL (vodka) so it evaporates really fast and can't spread so far or

paint w/ icing.

in both case ...a really fine brush like artists use

doug, thanks for the advice, you're always there to help when i'm in a fix! LOL which i so often am! I'm going to try painting next time. I was thinking, though, that maybe if i just outlined the eyes while i was doing the actual plaque that it might work. What do you think? Because even if i painted it is just that i have no artistic abilities! So it would help if i could just trace it. But, the wilton markers do have a thick line, even though i have the fine tips, what do ya know huh?
