If I need to make an Ipod Nano cake out of an 11x15 sheet cake how would I round the edges off? I have never done this before! Most of the Ipod cakes I looked at seemed to have rounded edges, but most of them were fondant also. Is the fondant making them seem rounded? My cake has to be buttercream icing. Any suggestions?

Hi, I would just carve the edges of the cake round. I make all my cakes with fondant or marzipan (I am from Holland icon_smile.gif ), but fondant does not make it round, you really have to carve them round. The cake idea sounds great, goodluck with it! thumbs_up.gif

Yes - definitely just carve the edges. It pretty easy, especially if you refrigerate your cake to make it more firm. Give it a good crumb coat after that, it will help with those raw edges.

I've never carved a cake before so I hope I can do it!
