emo is short for emotional. its a new style that a lot of people like. sorry, its hard to explain, but...if you look at young kids now with sorta strange makeup and strangely colored hair and tight pants, with a studded belt, you can bet that's emo. and bright colors on thier shirts.

Oh! Man I feel old! I used to keep up on all that stuff! My niece moved to AZ so now I am lost! So maybe you could do a 'purse' cake like the emo stuff? Maybe you could resemble one?
Or you could do a shirt and color/decorate it like one she has?
Do ya buy this 'emo' stuff at Hot Topics?

If you know her favorite band, you could duplicate an album cover via FBCT or an edible image and make a t-shirt cake. Hmmm...that's all I can come up with for now.

If you go to ebay and type in 'emo clothing' in the search engine, there are lots of cool lookin' t-shirt fronts you could do too. I knew what this stuff was, just didnt know it was called 'emo'. My niece wears this stuff.
Good luck!

Emo (music), a subgenre of hardcore punk music

Emo (slang), a slang term used to describe a wide range of fashion styles and attitudes somewhat affiliated with emo music.

some bands considered emo are:

American Hi-Fi, culture shock, Dropkick Murphys, <---(my personal fav)
Eve 6, Green Day, Less Than Jake, Reel Big Fish, etc.

A suggestion is find out what the favorite emo band is, and if they have a symbol associated with the band you can put that on the cake. Example- the band HIM (another personal fav) has a heartagram- it looks like this:

or happy bunny is emo-

I hope this helps a little- also check out www.hottopic.com for other punkish ideas.

redsoxgirl, I really love those Nightmare Before Xmas cakes! you just gave me an idea I was looking for! I am throwing bday party for my hubby thematised: Nightmare After Bday (party is a day after his bday), he decided for NMBC invitations (with Jack holding a present) so maybe such cake would be lovely topping! Have to think it over! But thanks for inspiration!

How about using some of those sayings, maybe tweeked a little:

Birthday's suck big time.

It's your birthday, it's ok if you want to drop dead.

It's your birthday, and that's sad.

Happy Birthday...I know how you feel, and I don't care.

Just some ideas.
