So sorry to keep you guys waiting...unfortunately these idiots are supposedely out of town. Yeah right!! I know they're avoiding me and I don't know why. Too bad I don't know what kind of cars they drive or I'd be doing a steakout. I don't know what the he(( is going on but I'm about ready to march in there with the police or something. Sorry I don't have any updates...I know its a let down. I want to know just as bad as you do. And I was trying to hold out on posting till I found out something definite but I don't have any new info. So I'm posting this now because I didn't want anyone to think I forgot about my friends here. thumbsdown.gif

Thanks for the update anyways!!! They are being real jerks to keep your pics and stuff. BTW - how could they be out of town if it is payday? Most small businesses have to have someone sign checks, don't they???????

Good point. Call them up and say you need your paycheck. See what they say? That will get the owner on the phone from their "vacation" spot ASAP!

It is really unbelievable that people can stay in business like this! I'm glad you're getting out quick, because there's no way you want your reputation associated with a place like that!

Hey tobinx - You know what you could do? You could get a friend or relative to call over there and ask for them by name, that way the voice and/or caller ID won't be recognized....flush 'em out in case they're really there but dodging you!

If my devious mind comes up with anything else, I'll let you know! icon_twisted.gif

OMG, that's a great idea. Have someone call over there asking for the owner for some bogus reason, and see what they tell them (on vacation, hold on I'll get them for you, etc).

Let's us know!!

Ok, I guess I missed the part of the pics. Have you tried to go get them and they are refusing to give you personal property that you left there?

In Texas this is all civil law not criminal law so you would have to contact your local Justice of the Peace - not sure where you live. But, that might be more trouble than 8 hrs of labor is worth. Good luck!

By the way, did you call the Health Dept?

Well what I would do is since they have not let you know when you would be working next, I would go to the unemployment office and file for unemployment. I bet that would get the owners attention real fast.

I don't think you can file for unemployment if you haven't filled out any papers though (W2 form, etc.)- and I really don't think you are eligible for it after only 1 day of work............ you wouldn't get much anyway.........but I agree she's gotta get their attention some way.......

And after you call the health department, you file a detailed report with the Better Business Bureau, or whoever is operating in your region. Of course if the HD shuts them down, there will be no worry of any other poor unsuspecting soul getting involved with them.

Sorry you had to go through that. That's just brutal. And agreed definitely on all accounts, keeping civilized and professional about it. Document everything, take notes while you still remember it all, dates, times of calls, conversations yadda yadda. I seriously would push the 8 hour paycheque too but that's just me- it's the principle of the matter.

Story: I decided many many years ago I'd be good at selling encyclopedias. Well I sucked thumbsdown.gif but I sold one set, which was $100 dollars commission for me. Well, the minimum sales per month was NOT 1 so they had to let me go (OH GEE GOSH TOO BAD LOL), but I still had my 100 bucks coming to me. Well I went to the office asking where it was, because it was a week late. Oh, head office accidentally wired it to the other branch office in another city in BC. So they had to wire it here. Come back next week. Following week I come back and pick up my cheque. But it's only around 90 bucks. What's this, I asked? They inquire, find out that the branch office deducted the bank service charge off MY COMMISSION cheque to transfer it to our office. UH I DONT FRIGGIN THINK SO! Ah but slimey salesman supervisor was an ASS and denied responsibility, wouldnt admit that was BS blablabla. So I said just before leaving the office, well if you won't make this right here, I'll take measures to make it right icon_wink.gif Took it to Labour Relations and a week later I had a 10 dollar cheque in the mail. One might (and a few people did) say that making a stink over 10 bucks is a waste of time, but I really dont think so. It's the principle, I would have made a stink for less.

If not for yourself, for the next person who comes along, and for all those unsuspecting customers who have no clue what goes on in the kitchen (almost puked when I read about the rancid icing and the kid digging in, THAT IS NASTY)

I agree who needs soap-tv.

I love this site - boy is it addictive.

OK, now I must know what has happened to Tobinx. My boss just read over my shoulder (I'm on lunch) about not needing soap-tv and is wondering what kind of sleazy site I am on during lunch. LOL!! I don't think I will tell him anything because either today or one day next week is my last day anyways (temp position)!!! icon_lol.gif

Hey, Tobinex, let us all know you are okay and that they haven't stuffed you into a cake for being persistent and tried selling the Tobinex cake to un-suspecting customers! I wouldn't put it past them!!
