I am familiar with and have used the 3x rule and per serving rule, has anyone ever heard of or used the $20 a box mix rule? I figured it up and it looks like it comes out pretty close compared to the others for BC. If this is the case do you go up in price incrementally for Royal, Fondant, Etc ?
Any thoughts appreciated. Thanx a bunch

i read on here somewhere that someones rule is to charge $15.00 per cake mix. i went to the grocery store bakery in my area, and that seems to be what they are doing too. so thats my new pricing rule. depending on where you live, $20.00 could be your rule to go by.
it makes so much since to me! one cake mix is $15.00 and is a 1/4 cake two cake mixes $30.00 and is my 1/2 sheet cake
three cake mixes $45.00 and is my 3/4 cake
and 4 cake mixes would be full and $60.00
those are the prices that i am comfortable with for my area.
it makes pricing so much easier!
now, if i added something that took alot of $$$ or time i would increase my price. (alot of times i dont, just because i want to try something out and do it just for the experience and THE PICTURE haha)

I am glad to see someone else does that. I seem to spend alot of time pricing stuff since my orders seem to be mostly custom stuff. to me its a whole lot easier to :

ask how many they want it to serve(work out pan sizes later) divided by 12 (serving per box), that gives me how many boxes I will need, x $20 per box. I found that it is extremely close. In my area, Mid Missouri

$1.75 per serving BC and $2.75 (base price) for fondant, is a good average.
SOoooooooooooo much easier than trying to figure custom pieces,

I have made a short list that goes something like this:

$20 box for BC, including all BC work and BCT
$24 box for BC with Chocolate work
$27 for Royal & Fondant Accents
$30 for BC with extensive Royal
$33 All Fondant including fondant/royal and BC accents
$35 for Gumpaste, extensive fondant or Extensive Chocolate
