So I had this small package weding cake for this weekend.. It was 2 tiers pink butter cream a the middle one ivory with fondant ribbons going across all 3 cakes in a checkerboard style with a ivoryt bow on top... so i decide to a different buttercream recipe then i normally make( big mistake) those lovely fondant ribbons would not stick to it one the icing hardened.. I figured out how to get them to stick... i stacked the 3 tiers finished up all the detail work.. it looked cute.. since mt delivery time had a window from noon to 4 pm, and its a sunday, i wanted to deliver it asap.. im bout 5 minutes from the hall, drury lane, and i call to find out where i was to deliver it, the main enterance or the side, i was told i could not deliver it till 4 pm and i could not deliver it before then, so i sat and argued with the manager saying i was told from noon to 4 and i live almost an hour away this cake is goin somewhere and not back to my house or she was givin me the gas money. She then decides ok i can leave it in their walk in refrigerator(duh!!!) so i set the damn cake on the rolling table and here on the bottom, all my fondant ribbons have started to buckle and break towards the bottom of the cake and still werent stickin to the buttercream! so i started freakin out, not to mention everyone workin there was watchin me. so i got it to the point where you couldnt tell they were broken and started essembling my bow. i make my bows dirrerently then how they show on this site mine are all seperate pieces that i push into the cake... wellll lets just say the bow wouldnt stay in the cake coz the icing was dry! ok now im flippin out again... so i had to push the loops all the way into the cake and pray they would stay... and i purposely did not take a picture coz i was soooooo embarrassed of how it turned out.. so that cake had to sit there from 1 pm till 4 before it was put into the room where the reception was and i am sittin here sick to my stomach hoping nothing terrible happened to my cake and even considering sending the bride some of her money back coz of how disappointed i was... teaches me to stick to what i know and not try something different at least not the day of the wedding
So did it all turn out ok? That would be so horrible! This whole cake decorating thing is pretty stressful! I am learning that already and I've only made a few cakes.

All the pictures in your gallery look really nice. I'm sure you were just noticing every little crack. Sometimes, we are our own worst critics. IF the bride complains, give her back some money. IF, not.....she didn't notice.
Stories like these are what keep me from baking for anything other than the fun of it. I'd be a wreck!!
Boy, am I with you on the "wreck" and making cakes for fun! Of course, it is nice to get paid for one once in a while, but I'm not sure I'll ever be up to making a wedding cake, where everybody is stressed out...
Nope, I wouldn't say anything unless the bride does, more than likely everything was fine. You know the old saying that bad news travels fast, if there was a problem you probably would have heard by now!
It is a shame you didn't get a picture, sounds like it was really pretty and I'll bet the bride loved it.

I live in the Chicago area and if that is the place that I am thinking, I will avoid having my wedding there.
Sorry about your cake, I am sure it was beautiful. and if the bride didnt say anything afterward, no worries.
its in oakbrook..... the first cake i delivered there i had no problem.. but this one was awful
