icon_smile.gif Hi has anyone tried making these cute diaper pin cookies from the Wilton website they don't have a lot of instructions is the royal icing supposed to be smooth enough like on the picture? Why don't they just out line the cookie with gray then flood the cookie with white royal icing that's what it looks like they did anyways and I didn't find gray icing color either so I bought black can I just add little black to white ising to make gray I am sorry I should have tried to do this project to begin with hope someone helps

I'm not sure I know which ones you're talking about. These are the ones I'm going to attempt to make for a baby shower. Are these the ones you're talking about?

Here's a link to these cookies on the Wilton website.

Have you done decorated cookies before? If not, I would recommend reading through the tutorial that Antonia74 wrote entitled "How To Bake & Decorate Cookies" on this website. You can find it under the Articles tab, or on the home page in the New Articles section.

That will give you an idea of how to work with this type of icing and how to judge the consistency, which is the key to good results.

hth!

Thank you for your help I read the recipe again from the wilton website and didn't read the part where it says you have to make the royal icing thin enough to pour on the cookie on a dripping tray and then once it is dried outline with gray well thanks a lot and to the other girl those are some really cute cookies you will be making good luck to you icon_biggrin.gif
