I just happened to look at some of my photos I posted yesterday and I see someone wrote a rude remark about my Dora cake. What's the deal here? I've never had anyone say anything remotely unfriendly to me on the Wilton site. It's a shame because this site is so much more informative.

That's uncalled for. Did you see if this person is a regular poster or a newbie?

I looked at your Dora cake and it is spectacular. I dont know who katemary is , but see that she is new to the site. I would disregard her comment! Dont let her turn you off to this great site!

No it is not a normal thing here. If you look that person has no posts and just joined June 2nd, some people join like that just to be mean. I call them trolls. Your cake is awesome, don't let that person get you down. Let a moderator know so they can get rid of that rude comment for you. Stick around its typically very friendly here icon_biggrin.gif

Looked like a newbie based on the profile. Is there someone I should talk to about it? If she didn't like the way my cake looked she should have just said it.

Nope not the norm - sometimes we get those who enter just to create a ruckus.... This person has been registered since 7-2006 but never posted... hmmm doesn't seem right....

Your cake is wonderful - I would disregard the comment in my opinion.

Oh the perils of an online community -

They definitely are not. And something like that is definitely not tollerated on this site. I am so sorry it happened to you.

But she just joined yesterday. Anyone who has been on here for more than two days can tell you this is a very wonderful site to be on.

I am so sorry she has changed your opinion of cake central but I sure hope you give it a second chance and don't let one person (who hasn't posted on anything but pictures and only been a member for a day) give CC a bad reputation.

I can't believe there are actually people like on here. They must not really be a part of this community and obviously don't do cakes. Your Dora cake is Awsome! I wouldn't worry about one comment, they're not important. I hope you stay with this site because it's wonderful and we"re glad to have you!

Someone should PM katemary and let her know that rude comments are not welcome on this site.

I think your cakes are extraordinary. Your work is awesome. Don't let one person set the tone for all of us. This is really a great community of generous decorators.

If you click on the "forums" tab, then click on "Ranks" it lists who the moderators are and the site admins. You can send them a private message and they can take that post off.

This is a wonderful site and that is not how this community is. We are very helpful and supportive. I was looking thru your cakes, and you do a fabulous job!

No it's not normal. It's a bunch of crap. I had it happen to me too. Someone left a comment on one of my cakes "this cake has the ugliest colors I have ever seen"..... or something to that effect. It hurt until I realized that 1) They had NO posts, 2) they had NO pictures, 3) they had only just joined. I thought it was bizarre someone would come to a board, sign up, and then just leave nasty comments...... I may not have an exciting social life, but even I'm not THAT bored. Why waste your time?

Don't spend another second thinking about the comment they made. Who are they to say no one would want a Dora cake anyway? They must be on a foreign planet or something to not know how popular Dora is. I don't even have kids and I know who she is.... and how popular she's become. Heck there are a ton of Dora cakes on this site - did this person go to every Dora cake and write that comment?? What a stupid idiot she/he is.

You are right, only someone with no life would log onto a site just to make rude comments. I guess I should feel sorry for her that she is that desperate for attention! Well I liked the cake and so did the birthday girl, and that's all that matters! I'm officially over it!

That cake is beautiful. Probably a Dora hating teenager. I wouldn't take it personal. The other day my daughter made a post that wasn't unfriendly but it wasn't too encouraging, she's 11 and she was looking at a dog cookie. She couldn't see the dog in the cookie and she posted "where's the dog?" or something to that effect. I told her she wasn't allowed to post without my permission because we don't want to hurt anybody's feelings. Your Dora cake is awesome!

Goodness, it is probably some young troll looking to get your goat - and it worked. Just ignore it, your Dora cake (and all your other cakes) are fantastic! This isn't the norm, so it tells me that it is some kid trying to be funny. It probably could have happened to any of us, but you were the one who got it.

its funny that you post this question because if you look at all the photos that she(katemary) comments at, mostly all of the comments are negative except for 2 that i have seen. i spent my morning looking at photos and the comments... and have taken note to the comments that she has left. ..... but she doesnt have any photos of her own. I wasn't sure what to .... but I am glad that some people gave good advice on this thread about it.
Some people do not have the best intentions!!!!

Don't even give it a second thought. It could be an immature teenager just making rude comments and there are even very immature adults that go to web sites and post rude and uncalled for comments because they can hide behind their anonymity (sp?).

They aren't worth your time & trouble.

Your cake looks great!

Nope, not the norm. People on CC support each other which is why I love it so much here. The difference from the Wilton site and CC is that at Wilton, all of the replies have to be read and approved before it can be posted on the site. Therefore no replies or comments such as the one you recieved can get through. Of course, it may be days before you can read any replies because they are all monitored which takes time. I love the fact that as soon as you start a posting on CC, you immediately get replies without delay. I guess we just have to overlook these people that don't want to play fair. Your cakes are fantastic and of course the Dora cake is absolutely beautiful. GREAT job!!!!!

Ah, we call those "trolls" on other boards I frequent. They join just to cause trouble.

At another site I hang out at the give "senior" members "flagging" rights. If the flag button is pressed by enough members the person, post, etc. is automatically deleted.

The cake is beautiful BTW!

I didn't see that comment as that offensive, personally. I'm sure you know your cake looks great... and that person obviously doesn't like Dora. She didn't say anything about you personally, or your decorating skill... just made her dislike of Dora known.

I don't know why you'd take that personally... it's childishness, nothing more.

I went to view and saw that the comment in question has been removed or maybe I just didn't catch it... but either way any rudeness should be kept to "themselves" no matter whom it is. Weather it was rude to the creator/decorater or just rude to Dora herself... it was obviously uncalled for if a Mod removed it icon_smile.gif

By the way the cake is beautiful!

First off, your cake looks awesome.

Second...do we think this is the same person that has been making rude posts, and just resigning up?? The reason I ask is because just recently there was an issue with someone named kat806 making rude comments, and now someone with the name katemary. Both names are shown as newbies to the forums, with no pics and no posts. Just curious if someone just keeps signing up, then making rude comments for kicks. Just wierd that the names are slightly similar and both were newbies. Just a thought. Jen
