My bride's theme is double hearts! Her mother is baking 2 12" heart cakes but she want me to decorate them. The border for the 2 heart cakes are white gumpaste leaves. OK NP! However, I'm wondering what idea's you all have for putting the two cakes together to complement her theme for 2 INTERLOCKING hearts! I thought about one over the other sort of off to the side using pillars and then 'hiding' the pillars with some flowers or tulle.. . . Your ideas and suggestions are being solicited here!! Thanks
What if you cout out a small circular part of one cake, and place them side-by-side so that they actually are interlocking?? Then you could decorate with flowers to make them look interlocked??
Here's one I did for an anniversary.

What came to my mind was a cake done by Colette Peters for ICES a few years ago. It consisted of pillow heart cakes (puffed), one upright, and one lying down. Sorry I could not find a picture to show it.
Thank you so much for the great suggestions and the pics where also very helpful to visualize. (still haven't decided on any thing yet!) I will take a show the bride these suggestions and my original idea and let her choose! Handymama can you share what the cake are sitting on? Did you have to 'construct' them yourself! TIA
I cut cake boards about an inch bigger all the way around, then estimated the size of the iced cakes on the boards and marked it. Played with the arrangement of the boards until I got them where I wanted them, then cut off where they overlapped. One had just a straight vertical cut off the edge. The other one i cut to "nestle" against it. Finally, covered them both with foil. I iced the cakes separately, then set them together to decorate and do the borders.
