HELP!!!! icon_cry.gif I'm trying to make a cake that has roses on it for a friend's birthday. Everytime I try to make a rose, the icing just droops into one big ball of mushy icing. It won't keep shape at all. icon_mad.gif What icing recipe is the best for making roses???? icon_sad.gif

Your icing is too soft. You can add more powdered sugar, or try chilling it

A plain shortening based butter cream is generally the easiest. there are some here on this site, and Wilton has a good basic decorating icing. check out Wilton.com or the recipe forum

are you using buttercream, royal, or canned icing? if it's buttercream, just add more sugar and cool it and it should hold up better. if it's royal, it may need more sugar or it may have grease in it, in which case it just melts. not srue if you can fix that at all, may have to make a new batch. as for canned icing, like in the tub, unless it's wilton's for decorating, i don't think it will hold a rose. icing for roses has to be stiff.
