Another "business Name" Question
Business By peytonsmommy Updated 3 Jun 2007 , 2:36pm by peytonsmommy
I've been working on this thing for days and I just can't come up w/ anything! I do not just do cakes, I do a lot of custom photo birth announcments/party invitations and other staitionary type things and I just cannot come up w/ a name that represents both that is catchy and is available!
Here are what I've narrowed it down to (yes some sound desperate because I AM lol)
Cards & Confections
Cake & Card Creations
Merry Moments
Blithe Occasions
Joyus Day
Stationary Sugar
Cake Paper
Paper Sugar
Moments in Design (Dh's only contribution!)
Any of these sound good? Any OTHER suggestions? TIA!
Its a little hard without knowing YOU and because the name and the business will be YOU I always feel like the name needs to feel just right. I gotta say though that I like the Cards and Confections. Or how bout Favorable Flavors (sorry to anyone if this is taken... just throwing things out there).... I like the Cards and Confections since it very clearly states edibles and cards. Hope this gets the ball rolling
That's a hard one...I have to say, I kind of like your husbands contribution
Good Luck!
I just thought of either:
Cakes and Cards or
Cards and Cakes
both domains are available according to enom: (www.cardsandcakes.com or www.cakesandcards.com)
I would suggest not to worry about trying to include everything in the name of the business. It is better to have a name with a good ring to it than trying too hard incorporating too many things. I like your Merry Moments suggestion.
Celebrations, Occations are other words that spring to mind.
Yup, that one is taken too. Thanks for the suggestion though! Really, I didn't think that THIS would be the most difficult part of getting this going!
What do you mean by "taken"? If you're looking for internet address, you can always use whatever name you want and stick on the name of your town (e.g. sweetmemoriesathens.com, sweetmomentsathens.com, etc.) as long as you don't have licensing or trademark problems.
I just wanted to say I feel your pain, lol.
I've been working on my business plan for my catering business that I am planning to open. I am tired of typing INSERT BUSINESS NAME HERE, so I have started to search for a business name. It is a tough job!
Go through your list and practice saying them aloud - like you are answering the phone "Thanks for calling xyz". See which ones you like saying over and over.
Laura, the biggest issue is finding something that has not already been registered as a trademark or w/ my SOS. I highly doubt anyone is going to hunt me down in podunk here to enforce it, but I don't want to take any chances.
I like both Cards & Confections and Moments In Design. Its a hard decision, good luck!

I know its not one of your options, but i like Paper Sugarhouse, just an idea
I like this one too!!
or Dh's contribution.
Okay these may sound dopey, but they give you more to choose from at least!
Paper Cakes (my personal favorite)
Paper CakeHouse
Cake and Paper
Paper Cakery
Cake and More (what if you decide to stop doing invites at some point?)
More than Cake
Not Just Cake
Celebration Cards n Cakes
Cake and Paper Design(s)
Custom Creations
According to the book, "Turn Your Passion Into Profits" by Janet Allon, she suggests choosing a name that tells prospective customers exactly what you are selling. This is my thought: Be sure you have a good logo that shows what you do in case the name is "iffy".
Also, I believe you only have to worry about having the same name as another business in your state, not the entire US. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Happy Day,
Steph
