Has anyone ever tried using the butter flavored Crisco in their buttercream? I was thinking about trying it (color doesn't matter), but if would taste gross I'd hate to waste all the ingredients. How does it compare to buttercream made with regular Crisco? (I use the Wilton Class Buttercream recipe). icon_rolleyes.gif

I had a friend take Wilton class #1 with me and she used the butter flavored Crisco on accident. Using butter flavored crisco actully makes a great tasting Buttercream frosting. Of course it does make the icing yellow which makes coloring the icing very difficult, which my friend found out after adding blue color and having the icing turn green. icon_biggrin.gif

I did the once because that was all I had at the time and it turned out fine. I loved the color and the taste.

I have used it before and thought my buttercream tasted fine. It does produce more of an ivory color. It's great to use if you want pastel colors, but don't have pastel food coloring.
