Cookie cutters

I was wondering which cookie cutters you prefer or you think are best plastic, copper, metal and why? And I don't have a whole lot but most of them are plastic. I live near the ocean and the metal ones rust fast. I will like to know what you think.

I have personally used them all, and I think they all work the same. My wilton instructor said you can only use the metal ones in fondant, but I don't have any problems when i use the plactic ones. Go for the plastic, I make a lot of cookies and they all seen to have the same result.

I prefer the plastic ones because you don't have to worry about the rusting but you can't get them in as many shapes as you can the others. I haven't tried the copper ones yet but I have some on order that I should be receiving soon icon_lol.gif can't wait!

The copper cutters are really strong and don't warp easily, but the edges aren't super sharp. The plastic don't warp but the edges are slightly sharper than copper...but aren't as pretty. The aluminum will rust, but usually have the sharpest edges of all. (After I wash mine, I put them in the warm oven to get them REALLY dry in all the corners and edges. Usually 30 minutes will get them completely dry!)

Thank you! Antonia that's a good idea, I do believe the advantage of copper and tin ones is the variety. I guess I'll by some and dry them that way. icon_smile.gif
