I need help. When I covered my cake with fondant, it wanted to do folds (like when you cover a table with a table cloth). I am certain there is a tutorial here about this, I just could not find it.
Any help would be GREAT!
Thanks in advance!

It also helps for me to stick the cake on a pan or something the same size so the fondant can hang naturally rather than pooling at the bottom.
Just be patient and lift and smooth in small sections, it will work eventually, it just takes time. And also, as ribbitfroggie said prop it up on a can or pan or something if you havn't. Tha will help the folds decrease.

Do you roll the fondant larger than needed to start and then smooth downward until the folds are no longer on the cake? I have found that works for me.
I had the same problem last night, first time this happened to me and I was so lost! I propped on the can, rolled larger than cake, draped over...all went well and went to smooth and the pools/tucks began.
No matter how much I smoothed in small sections, etc it would tuck and pucker At least it didn't tear! Good thing there!
Guess I just didn't hold my mouth right while doing it (as my gmother would say).
Any other suggestions? I ended up making a border to cover all the pleats I had in the end

Great video, thanks for posting. I thought the other videos there were helpful too.
We used the method in the Wilton class of propping the cake up on a bowl or something so the fondant hangs down, but we found that method causes alot of tearing because of the weight of the fondant pulling downward.
