I have a cake order for a purse cake. One: I have not done a purse cake before. Two: the customer wants me to use mentos for the handle. icon_confused.gif I don't know how I would attach the candies together and then to the cake. She hasn't tasted fondant before. I was thinking I could make the MMF and form it into balls to resemble the mentos. How long would the fondant take to dry? Would the fondant balls dry togehter and stay attached? Any suggestions would be great. I have a couple of weeks for the cake.

I am making a purse cake too, in about 2 weeks. I think they are adorable

For the handle, could you maybe get some tough wire, make small holes into the Mentos, string them up, then just insert the wire ends into the cake.

I haven't thought that far ahead yet for my cake, but that is just a suggestion that might work.

Good luck.

I would put the Mentos on a wire as well. Maybe at the end fish it through plastic lollipop sticks that way it's easier to make stay in the cake.

Thanks for the ideas. I have thought of wire. I was worried about someone eating the mentos & getting sick. My husband calls me a needless worrier. I would hate for someone to get sick. Is there a certain type of wire to use?
