Yesterday was my 2nd time trying MMF. I decided to try the small batch and to make it chocolate. After reading a few post on how to make it chocolate, I decided to double the small batch recipe and replace about 3 or 4 T of Dutch Processed cocoa for the powdered sugar. It turned BLACK! Thought you'd like to know in case you want black fondant!!
The second time around I just melted about an ounce of semi sweet chocolate with the marshmallows and added about 1 T each of the reg. cocoa and dutch processed. Turned out better.

Wow---that's amazing considering that you can rarely get any icing of fondant black when you want to!!

I was surprised. I mean the dutch processed cocoa is dark, but i figured with white marshmallows and white sugar it would turn out brown. Not so! They both tasted good though.

Thanks, this is good to know. I'm sorry you didn't get what you want, but it is sooo hard to get icing and mmf tinted black sometimes.

Where do you buy dutch processed cocoa? I don't believe I've ever seen it.

I found some at the store (Walmart maybe? or the grocery store, I can't remember). It was called Hershey's Special Dark Cocoa. It was right with the other cocoa products.

Yup, grocery store along with all of the other chocolate products. It tastes much better than regular cocoa in my opinion. Though I am a big dark chocolate fan.
